To ping a website to see how quickly it responds:

for Windows XP

Go to Start- then Run- type in cmd and hit enter. A black window will open.

type ping www.website.com.au

You can use this to see how quickly it responds then compare it to others.

Can't open documents in outlook express that have been sent to you?

After running windows update the security setting in outlook express is set not to to open suspicious attachments.  This applies to most attachments causing you be unable to open the document. 

To fix: in outlook express go to tools - options - security  and untick the check box that says "Do not allow attachments that could be saved or opened that could be potentially be a virus". Close window and you be able to see the attachment.

Internet slow or not working?

If you are a Telstra Big Pond or Optus customer it may be worth checking your ISP Status page.
